We are proud to officially re-launch our new showreel of animated motion graphic goodness. This is a best of collection of all the different music videos, motion graphics, theatre projections, and animations that we have created up until November last year. The soundtrack is by Cinematic Orchestra.
iaminawe created a dark visual mashup of stock footage, 3D Animation, 2D flash animation, motion graphics and footage shot in and around Cape Town. The production was a contempory retelling of the Greek tragedy of Oedipus and was met with great feedback. Iaminawe created the animation based on the actors in the production and the highly technical production went off without a hitch… until a fire partially destroyed the stage and cut the run short.
This animation edit is a combination of the animation that we created as well as photos that we took of the production while it was running. It gives a cool overview of some of the theatre work we do as it really contextualises the screen within the set and how a lot of these animations look projected on a 16m X 10m screen.
The awesome music for the production was created by Black Belt Jones who of course we did an identity for too.
Iaminawe were also involved in the poster and microsite for the production.
Iaminawe recently created a 14 minute animated DVD to form the basis of a travelling “virtual” exhibition sponsored by Appletiser. The animations will also accompany the commissioned works in galleries across South Africa.
Although the digital art tour ties into Appletiser’s launch of its new look, the commissioned art works are not literal interpretations of Appletiser products. A brief was sent out to twelve of SA’s top artists to each create a piece that depicts women experiencing pure pleasure. iaminawe were tasked with creating a visual remix of the twelve artists works using their unique style of animation to extend the works into movement.
The result is that the commissioned sculptures and paintings come to life and explore their themes and environments through flowing animation. The style of the animation varies from crisp motion graphics to painterly explorations and the piece was created using a combination of video and stills, which were manipulated using Photoshop, After Effects and Painter.
