Some footage from our trip over the Andes in July 2010. The highest point we reached on this drive was 4818 meters (15807 feet.) It was a beautiful drive with great scenery. Starting in the city of Lima, going over the mountains and ending up down in the jungle.
During our trip we stopped to drink Coca Tea, made out of leaves from the coca plant. This tea contains several alkaloids including cocaine. This tee is widely believed to alleviate the symptoms of altitude sickness. But Filip still experienced some trouble with altitude sickness.
"The Andes are the world's longest continental mountain range. It is a continuous chain of highland along the western coast of South America." (wikipedia)
A pretty retarded movie.. couldn't really explain the trip we had with the footage we had, but we put this together anyway.. btw. altitude decease can cause vomiting... a lot of vomiting...
The trail we took started out as a trail but we quickly got to areas where we had to make our own path... After a couple of hours of hiking we had to turn back because of the vegetation. We did not have time to make our way through, we also did not have time to walk all the way back before it would get dark. So we ended up making our way down the jungle hillside... a very interesting hike! never had more cuts that right now. Seems like every plant or tree in the jungle has a evil desire to hurt you!
