Filmed in 2005 as part of the Elevate 48 Hour Film Festival, this short documentary tells the story of a courageous young model's journey of survival after the discovery of an acoustic neuroma brain tumor pressed against her brain stem.
The filmmakers were given 48 hours after picking this topic from a hat to shoot and edit their films then screen in front of an audience. The crew was made up of students from The Story Project, a 501c3 committed to furthering the lives of students growing up in underserved communities by uncovering their own voice through storytelling.
The Laemmle family has been entertaining audiences in their many Los Angeles cinemas since 1938. In 2016, The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival honored these wonderful people during the opening night of their annual film festival. "Growing Up Laemmle" is the tribute that premiered that evening.
Congratulations and thank you Laemmle family for entertaining and inspiring so many throughout the Los Angeles landscape.
