It brings us great pleasure to unveil our inaugural episode of Da Game. Unlike anything you've ever seen for golf on TV, Da Game's debut focuses on our star host, Dave Ward and his hood: the beautiful Kapalua Resort. You'll meet Little Dave, hear newscasts from Maisie Ramage about some of Hawaii's top golfers, get the latest scoop on our Coconut Wireless with Marie Lenz, watch as Dave interviews Kapalua Bay course superintendent Derrick Watts, Kapalua director of golf, Mike Jones, and you'll even hear from Kapalua Plantation Course head golf professional, Scott Carroll. Dave talks us through one of the most famous finishing holes in golf: the 18th at the Kapalua Plantation Course, as he cards an eagle right there before your very eyes! Then Dave heads over to the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course, interviews Ralph Miyamoto, president of the Maui Junior Golf Association, and then challenges some of the future stars of the LPGA and PGA tours to a closest-to-the-pin contest, all right here, and with a surprising climax. You'll go to Dave's home, meet his extremely successful and beautiful wife, the 'Big Stick Carrier' Renée Ward, and be introduced to his extended family: Three Putt, Lip Out, Pull, and Hook. All of this and more in our first :30 minute episode of Da Game. So hang onto your hats, and let's go.... Game on??? GAME ON!!!!!
Sneak a peek at Royden Heirakuji's sudden-death-winning 30-footer for birdie. Then watch as Da Game's host, Dave Ward, interviews the amateur champion at the Dunes at Maui Lani's clubhouse restaurant, Cafe O'Lei.
Welcome to the Maui Golf Review's rough cut of its TV show, called DA GAME. This version was never actually used, but the footage will appear in future episodes and it represented a step in our learning curve. We are keeping it online as a way of showing the show's evolution. Taped on the Valley Isle of Maui, DA GAME features news and updates about all of Maui's golf courses. Its star host, Kapalua resident, Dave Ward, adds sparkle and humor to the mix during the 16-year-old local golf magazine's inaugural effort. Expect to see lots of coverage of the courses, the people, and what's truly news in the world of Maui golf!
