Patients testify that Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral-to-Treatment (SBIRT) saved their jobs and, in one case, a patient's life. SBIRT is an evidence-based, cost-saving program to help people deal with problem drinking and drug use and other health behaviors. It is being implemented in Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles, http://www.wiphl.org.
This video was a combination of things that came together all at once. The song, "She Was Gonna Do Me right" was recorded first without a video concept in mind. The opening shot was something I just had lying around. I was asked to come up with an opening video at a psychiatric conference on Substance Use Disorder (SUD). I thought the song would work because the opening line is, "there she goes again getting stoned. And because substance use disorder tends to be a learned disorder thought that the opening video of a small girl would exemplify the seriousness of the affliction.
