For the final 3 races of the 2012 season of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, SkyMotion Video provided aerial views for TSN's coverage. With the remote controlled helicopter system, TSN was able to get the high angles needed to ensure that crucial moments were covered. From the air, critical overpasses could be seen as racers slipped in and out of key positions. The final three races of the season took place at Barrie Speedway in Ontario, Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish Nova Scotia, and Kawartha Downs and Speedway near Peterborough Ontario. Each track presented unique challenges, as it was important to not distract drivers throughout the race, yet still get in at times for important coverage. Presented here are some of our favorite moments from the shoots.
On the 40th anniversary of the famous ‘Blue Marble’ photograph taken of Earth from space, Planetary Collective presents a short film documenting astronauts’ life-changing stories of seeing the Earth from the outside – a perspective-altering experience often described as the Overview Effect.
The Overview Effect, first described by author Frank White in 1987, is an experience that transforms astronauts’ perspective of the planet and mankind’s place upon it. Common features of the experience are a feeling of awe for the planet, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, and a renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment.
‘Overview’ is a short film that explores this phenomenon through interviews with five astronauts who have experienced the Overview Effect. The film also features insights from commentators and thinkers on the wider implications and importance of this understanding for society, and our relationship to the environment.

Welcome into the mind of JP Auclair, the athlete and co-director of Sherpas Cinema's viral "JP Auclair Street Segment (from All.I.Can.)" - vimeo.com/32863936
Perhaps JP fell asleep on that "Uphill" Bus, and had something of a nightmare. Now he's charging down midnight streets, chased by a spotlight: the gaze of the dreamer. As if in the gutters of the mind, he is surrounded by symbols of the dream world, fears and memories that come in the form of projections. When JP encounters a challenging obstacle, he is outstaged by a younger and more capable athlete. Enter Tom Wallisch, one of the worlds most prolific freestyle skiers and an Olympic hopeful for Sochi 2014. Though the chase now seems to be between Tom and JP, at the end of the segment we meet the dreamer themselves, the spotlight that has been following them. The dreamer hurtles past JP and Tom, towards a potentially fatal life decision. Watch the feature film to see what happens next...
The JP Auclair Street Segment (from INTO THE MIND) communicates on a different level of cinematic expression. Each image has meaning, and each sequence triggers emotions, just as a dream does. Though not always easy to interpret or articulate, the segment, like the film, harbours a philosophy of human kind. What drives us to overcome challenge? How do we justify risk? What forces are at the core of a skiing/snowboarding addiction?
Join JP Auclair, Tom Wallisch and Sherpas Cinema as they explore how the mind confronts challenges, and how we are ultimately led up the path to self-actualization.
As Buddha once said, “The mind is everything. What you think you become.”
Into The Mind is about becoming.
