Video surf report for Huntingon Beach Pier, Northside for 19 August 2010. 2-3 foot glassy waves. Water still in the VERY low 60s, but the sun is out, so hot on top, cold below. Crowds filling in as morning is progressing. Period very long and waves moving slow. Occasional decent 3+ sets, but you'll have to fight for it.
Great surf day, video sort of belies what's happening out in the water. Shoulder-to-overhead waves that are glassy and easy to pick up. Water is extra cold. Slight north drift on the rip, but nothing a little paddling won't take care of. Crowds in front of the hotels is minimal, by the pier is much more crowded.
