    English.

    Concept

It is the opening of the new millennium, years 2001 to 2003; the setting is Buenos Aires and electronic music has become the main mark of the cultural scene. A new living style which arrived in the mid-eighties and little by little has been installed by Djs, clubs and the dancing public which is constantly growing.
In order to develop the theme we will ship out on an hypnotic trip cut by the rhythm and the frequency of the beat in its more primitive and tribal essence.
Reflecting this type of culture is considering its main characters: The Djs and the people, the different events and parties plus everything that take place inside this new culture.
The electronic culture is the new sociological phenomenon and to analyze it we will think its principal element: The music.

    Argumentative synopsis

The question comes up: What is music? Those who are answering are finishing a party and are unable to stop dancing. This person asks again and this time someone answers from a more rational point of view, a more precise idea. The first one says what he feels and so as he listens to the music he dances, the second one says what he thinks and that’s why his answer is more rational.
Electronic music arrives to the city. Midnight lights and music transform the images of Buenos Aires to different colors and sounds.
Djs take the words. Who are they? How did they start? They model the night rites, creating and selecting music. The dancing public is called under their responsibility.
The same Djs answer where they came from and how they reached this profession. For some of them it was out of necessity, others intrigued by the novelty, or just taking the old one’s places. How they began discovering electronic music and through which styles was this manifested.
Those interviewed are the most significant Djs, the ones who have the best background of the local scene: Carla Tintoré, Javier Bússola , Diego Ro-k, Aldo Haydar, Miguel Silver, Javier Zuker, Diego Cid, Gustávo López, Pandy, Trincado, Dany Nijensohn, Tomy Jacobs, The real night makers.
This journey will be purely musical. The image searches for its rhythm. It takes its representative music. Something special appears, a track to show the moments of the night, to order the narration; a password that will guide us through the night. Impressions, sensations, in those bodies that jam all together, jumping and vibrating in the same trance.
The origins of the electronic scene in Argentina. Djs tell how, through different currents of music from Europe and USA which made impact in Buenos Aires like Deep-House or Acid, they got into it, sometime in the mid-eighties. Its origins – closed circles; out of an elite – Its evolution as it waited for the new millennium constantly growing and even nowadays becoming massive.
In-situ images reflect the euphoria of the crowd. Shot right from the very moment on which things were happening they are of a real significant value. These images do not only show contemporary places where the scene takes place but also they are form many important events from different times and places: Raves in Sarmiento Park, Underground Park, Creamfields, Rave Parties Corp. Out-door hypnotic states. People are cut through unknown experiences with new drugs that are the complement to the rites in this culture. Nonstop dancing, the after-hours, moving until one is worn out no matter if he or she is stimulated or not.
As simple as it may seem, showing people dancing is the most important thing and the real reason for this documentary. Communication between Djs and dancers is manifested. The giving away of the energy when dancing, through the body, sound interpretation. Djs´ ideas come back to tell us how they do it and how the manage to keep the dancefloor moving all night. Each one of them talks about its own technique and the vision they have about the public. The sequence of images continues along with the music as in a video clip.
This documentary talks about a sensible community of ideas where today’s people experience a hypnotic state. Once the question has been installed, the answers take place. Everybody wants to be music or at least they want to be represented by it. These short testimonies pave the way for the real characters of the electronic culture, and their religion,
    Music.
Finally, after this intensive overview which represents the electronic culture, and after watching its main players in action, the initial question comes back as a boomerang; a final riddle that asks itself now: Essentially… What is music?… Answers add up to those in the beginning but now, we have a richer view which changes our personal opinion. Surely enough this will happen to anyone who’s got a chance to see “Todo por Amor” (Buenos Aires dance).
