    Download the project file here: http://bit.ly/14bKGAM

    Tutorial layout:

    Intro and Basic Setup: 0:00 - 7:30
    Technique 1 - offset comp: 7:30 - 10:30
    Technique 2 - offset expression: 10:30 - 20:15
    Technique 3 - time displacement: 20:15 - end

    We’d LOVE to see what you make with this. Show us and we’ll include it in the blog!

    Also, if you have questions or comments, feel free to let me know.
    CODE for offset expression:

    offset = -.5;
    //The offset in time, negative half a second.

    p = thisComp.layer("My Animated Layer");
    //The parent layer

    t = time + offset;
    //The current time minus half a second

    //Value of the parent's position property at the current time minus half a second

    Code for multiple layers with slider control:

    offset = thisComp.layer("YOUR LAYER").effect("YOUR Slider Control")("YOUR Slider") ;
    //link everything between = and ; to the SLIDER CONTROL in YOUR comp

    t = time + offset * index;
    //index is the layer number

    thisComp.layer("YOUR LAYER").transform.position.valueAtTime(t);
    //be sure this is linked to the layer with the animation in YOUR comp
