Above & Beyond broadcast the first ever episode of Trance Around The World from the Ministry of Sound studios in London back in 2004. On 10 November 2012, almost a decade later, they travelled halfway across the world to the Indian city of Bangalore for the show's transformation from Trance Around The World 450 into Group Therapy 001.
This special episode of A&B TV follows three of Bangalore's residents as they give us a unique view of their city and attend Above & Beyond's landmark 450th radio show at the Jayamahal Palace.
Thanks to Renuka, Sharat, Adithya for their time, interviews and for sharing their own little piece of Bangalore with us.
"Group Therapy captures the relationship between us, our music and you, our audience, and the magic that happens when those three things interact. It's something you've all taken into your hearts and it lies at the centre of everything that we do - the community, the connection, the interaction. Our radio show is our weekly Group Therapy with all of you." - Above & Beyond
For the 50th episode of ABGT and their 500th radio show to date, Above & Beyond are bringing Group Therapy back to the city where their radio journey began, in their home town of London at the historic Alexandra Palace. "Someone told me recently that the lyrics to "On My Way To Heaven" sound like a Shakespearean soliloquy set to music. It's a wonderful thought, and very flattering. So the idea of casting a well-known Shakespearean actor in the video to realise that idea was just too tempting. My first choice was Steven Berkoff - he does unhinged better than anyone - and incredibly, he said yes. It's a nightmare come true." Tony McGuinness, Above & Beyond
A song that is inspired by the restless, disjointed thoughts that race through the brain at 4am in the morning, Above & Beyond's "On Way Way To Heaven" is an existential rant that is typical of a band that looks well beyond the EDM status quo for its lyrical inspiration.
Casting famed British actor Steven Berkoff (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, A Clockwork Orange, The Krays) as the tortured Shakespearean thespian that he has played so many times in his career, the official music video sees a typical Berkoff performance of the song's cathartic stream-of-consciousness lyrics - struggling with the internal demons that the song describes. As Berkoff's soliloquies and the play's action both rise in drama, the video reaches a climactic moment of release; every bit as emotional as the track's breakdown itself.

"We all read about the Detroit Urban Farms project and saw the documentaries about it and it really moved us all. To see a community reclaiming the crumbling city blocks to grow the food they need is an incredible story in so many ways. It was moving, topical and also a beautiful and apt illustration of what the song is actually about - triumph over adversity. As a video concept, it was perfect from angles." - Above & Beyond's Tony McGuinness
Initially inspired by an article written by journalist Paul Harris on Detroit's urban renewal city farms in the Guardian newspaper, the video for Above & Beyond and Gareth Emery pres. OceanLab 'On A Good Day (Metropolis)' captures the song's essential meaning of triumph over adversity through the powerful, visual narrative of the Georgia Street Community Collective and their determination to make a better, brighter life for their local community.
Since the collapse of a once thriving automotive industry, Detroit has become known as a monument of urban decay with disused warehouses, derelict wasteland and vacant factories peppering the city. Georgia Street Community Collective are one of many organisations harnessing local action and bringing community volunteers together to create positive results -- regenerating wasteland as urban farms and community gardens.

When Virgin Galactic were looking for some atmospheric music to herald the launch of their ground-breaking 'SpaceShipTwo', they turned to Above & Beyond. At an event hosted by Richard Branson in the Mojave Desert, the track chosen to accompany the official unveiling of SpaceShipTwo was Above & Beyond's club anthem 'Buzz', which was inspired by the Apollo 11 moon-landing. After the unveiling of the world's first space tourism spacecraft, Above & Beyond performed an exclusive DJ set in front of an audience of 800 dignitaries, celebrities and soon-to-be astronauts, plus the assembled global media.
