A second video of the Church WAVES. Here, the video is edited, but the sound is in one take,
and (although visually not spectacular) sonically much more interesting.
Without any human interference the system keeps itself going, with many differences in
volume, complexity and sound colours. Here the basic feedback frequency varies between
4 and 20 Hertz, and there is much space for the higher overtones.
A recording of the concert of Petra and Mario at Plato, Ostrava (HearMe Festival, organised by Bludny Kamen) is played by an mp3-player that is connected with shakers. The shakers send the vibrations of the frequencies through 2 long strings that are tensed between the walls of the Flipside Gallery in Eindhoven. The long strings are amplified, so the filtered version of the concert is audible in the gallery.
This is the videorecording that is made in the galleryspace. Besides the sounds of the filtered concert, visual works of the Belgian artist's collective Tarmac is recorded, plus the sounds of their work, traffic, people, etc. This video can be shown by Bludny Kamen in their own space, where the acoustics of their space will filter the recordings of the video, and where people and traffic etc will add sounds to it.
This has the same classic setup as WAVES Singing Cymbals,: 2 long strings with piëzo's and shakers; and long strings hanging down from them, but without the cymbals. The way in which the small pegs are clipped to the hanging strings, cause this typical great sound with a wind-like character. For us this is an ultimate sound experience that we can't get enough from. Minimal movement causing maximum sound, that's the real thing!!!
