This has the same classic setup as WAVES Singing Cymbals,: 2 long strings with piëzo's and shakers; and long strings hanging down from them, but without the cymbals. The way in which the small pegs are clipped to the hanging strings, cause this typical great sound with a wind-like character. For us this is an ultimate sound experience that we can't get enough from. Minimal movement causing maximum sound, that's the real thing!!!
Acoustic installation based upon movement feedback. It was part of the Sound Seeing Festival 2012 and was displayed at Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst in Germany. In the cellar space of the former monastery, we tensed 3 sets of strings between the massive columns, each consisting of a string with piëzo and a shaker. The movement feedback causes the strings hanging down from the long strings to move as well, making the clothespins at the end 'dance' on the cymbals that are on the floor.
The feedback is controlled by an arduino driven controller especially designed and built for us by MAD Foundation in Eindhoven.
"WAVES Feedback Guitars" was part of the Sound Seeing Festival 2012 in Germany. In the Black Box of CUBA Kultur in Muenster we set up two guitars and tensed 2 long strings with shakers. Moving around the space influences the sounds that are being generated through this feedback setup.
