1. Late night abstract acid modular jam using the MakeNoise rene, brains, and 4 pressure points. Everything clocked to 1 plan-B mini ELF lfo. Trying to make squelchy acid bass lines with the WMD Gamma Wave Source - Dual WaveTable VCO.

Note: the audio was recorded into my ZoomH4n, no computers or drum machines used here.

  2. This video shows the following patch:

Maths Channel 4 (called "Channel 2" in the video) set up as fast square-ish LFO (Lin curve, mid Rise, zero Fall, full negative negative output)

Chan 1 patched to Oscillator CV in and Filter cutoff

Chan 4 patched to Chan 1 Both and Filter cutoff

    Osc-to-filter-to-out

This patch creates a strange-behaving stepped LFO sequence. Sequence length can be varied with Ch 1 Rise/Fall controls. Sequence speed can be varied with Ch4 Rise control.

The upshot of this is that while the up-up-down-down sequence loops, the lower notes in the sequence slowly move up and down, while the higher notes in the sequence follow the same motion, but about 90 degrees out of phase. This creates a disconcerting shepard tones-ish effect.

    Maths is fun.

  4. Make Noise René... Non-Linear Sequencing, a Source of Certainty. Footage taken a few years ago, of a very early prototype for the René. At this point we were not using a micro-controller, but instead many many logic gates!

  5. The new sequencer for modular synthesizers, designed by Make Noise and developed with yerpa58. A short bunch of clips I took one afternoon while beta testing. The patch is same for all clips. Doepfer A-110 controlled by RENÉ CV OUT, Square Wave applied to QMMG which is set to BOTH mode and controlled by RENÉ Gate-X and Gate-Y. The RENÉ sequencer is driven by 3 clocks. The master clock generated by the Wogglebug, and then divided by MATHS to create the second and third clocks. Come see the Make Noise RENÉ, MATHS, Wogglebug and QMMG at NAMM 2010, Analogue Haven Boothe.
