A short story, written and performed by Nathan Filer and filmed and edited by Phil Bambridge, with the pair of them sharing directorial credit. And guest-starring Dr Tanya Atapattu.
A man and his tiny world of banks and a certain chocolate bar, is disrupted by an outsider.
We'd already made this, after a couple of false starts, and ended up going a highly simplistic route that featured just the head-and-torso monologue shots. It was a filmed performance, rather than the short film it is now. Spending a couple of days getting extra footage to illustrate the story the character tells, allowed us a greater insight into his world, more visual interest, and even to add in a joke or two. Because of this greater ambition, it has more mistakes than the first one, but worth it for the experience it provided...and the result, we hope.
Shameless clone of Miranda July's cute and touching interview-based short. Having a spare afternoon and an audio recorder, we asked passers-by a question: "Are you anybody's favourite person?" I then captured a few bits of Bristol on my little camcorder, the Samsung VP-HMX20C just to add some visuals. Consider this a first go, a draft, an exercise. Thank you to all the people who answered our questions.
