1. Space Studies Board (SSB) Director Michael Moloney and SSB Chair Charles Kennel introduce keynote speakers Len Fisk (Thomas M. Donahue Distinguished University Professor of Space Science, University of Michigan) and John Grunsfeld (Associate Administrator, Science Mission Directorate, NASA) at the beginning of the SSB's 2012 workshop. Dr. Fisk, who recently completed service on the SSB's decadal survey in solar and space physics and is a member of the Committee on Earth Science and Applications from Space, provides an historical perspective on the decadal surveys and science planning in general at NASA. Dr. Grunsfeld provides the NASA perspective on the decadal surveys.
