A very short film on choreographer Ohad Naharin for the Brooklyn Academy of Music. This oddly is one of my favorites from the BAM series even though the quality of the shot is rough. This was the first film we shot for BAM and it almost ended what has turned out to be a very fruitful relationship between hillmancurtis and BAM. We were forced to shoot in a dark crowded meeting room because there was some confusion over where we could and could not set up due to union rules. Mr. Naharin walked in like a rooster and demanded we shoot in certain ways relative to the light source...which in this case was a window...but slowly he relaxed and by the time I asked him to dance we were in fine form. His movements sublime and expressive. The final question I asked, "What is dance", returned the poetic and rhythmic response that is the only audio used in the film.
