Sue and I were on a Kona Honu dive boat just leaving the harbour north of Kona when we came upon this pod of very friendly dolphins. They were riding our bow wave and some were jumping out of the water, as were the humpback whales.
Sue and I took these videos with our digital cameras in January 2010. The shots do not do justice to the size and strength of these waves. We were told that a few days earlier they were almost twice this size.
There was a single widsurfer who at one point looked as if he was heading all the way to Molokai. The kite surfers were having a whale of a time. Check out the surfer at the end of the black and white section who has a novel way of dismounting his board.
