The Salar de Uyuni is one of the world's most remarkable natural landscapes. Salt flats as far as the eye can see linger isolated in south-west Bolivia and are only accessible by dirt and gravel roads. Cycling through this are was an incredible experience and a chance to become liberated!
The cycle from red rock Northwestern Argentina to the beginning of Patagonia at Puerto Montt, Chile involved lots of isolation, headwind and rain. The next stages would take me down the 1,240km Carretera Austral.
1,240 Kms from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins in Chile, the stunning Carretera Austral (Southern Road) leads through fjords, icefields, lakes and Patagonian mountain valleys. I spent 2 weeks moving through these lands on the final stages of the journey to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
