A very controversial film on the film festival circuit, it is best that you do not watch if you are sensitive to sexual or relationship violence. Why do I like it? The film is provocative, but not cheaply so — it mixes horror with beauty, and the rhythmic, looping ritual of it all suggests cycles of abuse that can be metaphorically applied to any number of circumstances. Maybe it can feel exploitative, experiences may vary, but that's the thing, it makes you FEEL. Once you do that it is easier to think.
