Repetition with variety is key to instructional activities.To learn a skill and generalize it across contexts, instruction must provide repetition of the skill in a variety of ways. In many of the video segments you have seen variations of activities associated with a Greeting Conversation. This is another activity that the students do to practice the conversations they learn. In order to communicate students with complex communication needs have to do so much. What we want to do is minimize the work load for them as much as possible-certainly in conversations we can do that. What we are trying to do is get students to reach of level of automaticity with conversations and skills we are teaching them. So when they go to have the conversations in "real-life" it is so automatic that minimal thinking is necessary. . Just like many of the conversations we have in our daily lives.
