Rockdale County SPLOST Committee made up of a diverse group of Rockdale Citizens met on 9-26-2011. The only controversial issue was when Rockdale County Resident Steve Macke presented documentation on the 911 Communications system. He states the technology will cost taxpayers 4 to 5 times as much before we are through. The SPLOST Chairman did not allow debate or the committee to ask Mr. Macke any questions on his presentation. He stated the bid process is to far along at this point.
Rockdale County Local SPLOST Board met on 7-25-2011 to talk about priorities to spend the SPLOST Revenues that have started to come in to the County for 2011. Apparently, Sales Tax Revenues have increased in 2011. We believe because of inflation not because the economy is improving. Because of a wise decision to Bond only part of the SPLOST The Committee decided to use its share of the incoming revenues to fund out year projects this year, while using Bonded Funds to repair road projects immediately. The Board is well represented in a non partisan manner from a great cross section of citizens and expertise's.
