This is the first teaser of the movie, edited in 2/2013, based on the first research trip to the US.
How to find identity after an acid attack? Three acid burn victims dance their stories.
Uganda, Pakistan, USA. Their lives are different but they have one thing in common. They have all been victims of acid violence. At that moment the life as they knew it was over. What are they now? What is left when one loses the looks, the image? How to build a bridge between the old and new identity? The movie makes a statement by combining dance, music, voices and visual images into an art documentary. Dance can be any kind of movement: it can start with a glance. A small move can be a huge step both symbolically and on the screen. Because they are not all professional dancers, the moviemaking includes workshops, which use the tools of applied dance to help find each performer’s unique way of moving and to develop and rehearse choreographies based on that. Burning Voices is a rough yet a beautiful film about one of the world’s most heinous crimes.
