Our steep, densely-planted Stags Leap District estate has been the heart of the winery since Pine Ridge Vineyards was founded here in a farmhouse in 1978. This wine is a pure and exquisite expression of the world-famous Stags Leap District AVA.
Presenting a bouquet that is both savory and sweet, this deep ruby wine expresses rich aromas of ripe, brambly blackberry, sweet red cherry and blackcurrant, enrobed by wisps of smoky oak, Oolong tea, dried sage leaf and dark chocolate mocha. Leading with vivid cherry and fresh raspberry fruits, the lush palate echoes with nuances of white pepper, maple-brown sugar and sweet basil, underscored by velvety tannins on the graceful finish.
The Stags Leap District’s moderate temperature, influenced by the San Pablo Bay, leads to slow, even fruit development throughout the growing season. The majority of our 47 acres across four estate vineyards in this region are densely planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals on steeply-terraced hillsides with Bale clay-loam soils, producing very low yields of intensely flavored grapes.
HARVEST & WINEMAKING
The 2010 vintage was cooler than usual during the growing season, but ended with a heat wave. As a result, the fruit for this wine was harvested at an optimal level of ripeness early September to mid-October. Fermentation took place at a high temperature to ensure that maximum extraction was achieved before the wine was racked to 50% new French oak barrels. The wine was aged in barrel for a total of 18 months before bottling.
A classic, meaty dish, such as a rack of New Zealand lamb chops and grilled vegetables with hollandaise, makes a fine partner for this elegantly powerful bottling. Alternatively, this complex beauty is equally enjoyable after dinner alongside dark chocolate truffles or an earthy, semi-soft cheese like Ossau, a Basque cheese made from ewe’s milk.

Your evening begins with a reception in our Tasting Room or Terrace with a view of the breathtaking Stags Leap District Palisades. Nibble on passed hors d’oeuvres paired with our award-winning wines before embarking on a tour of our vineyards (seasonable availability) and wine cellar. Your evening culminates in a gourmet meal prepared by our Executive Winery Chef Janet Sheehan and expertly paired with Pine Ridge Vineyards wines. Dine in our estate vineyards (weather permitting) or in our Cabernet Caves, built 130 feet underground and 300 feet into the hillside. Surrounded by wine barrels, mood lighting and stunning glass sculptures by artist Dale Chihuly, this dramatic subterranean dining room provides the ultimate backdrop to your evening in the Napa Valley.
$4,500 for 1 to 16 guests. $265 per person for 17 to 140 guests. Pricing includes a reception, tour, multi-course wine and food pairing, floral arrangements, tables, chairs, crystal stemware, service ware, specialty linens, menu cards, wine and food personnel, set up and clean up.
In addition to our dinners, we also offer you and your guests Signature Lunches prepared by our Chef Janet Sheehan and paired with Pine Ridge wines. Dine either outdoors in our lush Estate Gardens, which overlook the Stags Leap District Palisades (weather permitting), or in our wine caves.
