This long-form investigative report examines teh infamous Argentine "Dirty War" of the 1970s in which the military dictatorship kidnapped and killed thousands of the country’s citizen, secretly disposing of their bodies so that they become "the Disappeared." Correspondent Jorge Gestoso is part historian, part private-eye as he travels to Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina and Holland to solve -- a quarter century later -- the remarkable cause of a murdered young woman whose body was discovered by a fisherman, only to be stolen again by the military to keep her identity from being known. Gestoso’s compelling reporting illuminates in a passionate yet objective way the current impact of those unresolved acts of mass injustice. This is the first non-English language program to win a duPont Award.
