"Tibet Forum is a collective of young motivated individuals of Tibetan origin who are or were pursuing studies in the vibrant multi-ethnic environment of Jawaharlal Nehru University. From studying appreciation of arts, foreign languages, political science, geography, law and economics, this diverse congregation of youth is an ideal forum for articulation and informed discourse on every aspect of the Tibetan Diaspora.
Since its inception in March 2004, Tibet Forum has initiated and organised many events to spread awareness regarding the Tibetan cause and to offer career advice to younger students of Tibetan origin.
On the invitation and prayers of tribal leaders, the Dalai Lama travels to a poor and remote Muslim village at the India Pakistan border. More than a symbolic gesture, the visit results in an invitation by the Dalai Lama to provided a modern education to children from the village while insuring their religious and cultural heritage. Without this film, this amazing story would never be known or seen.

One of the immediate action plans after adoption of the new Basic Education Policy is the establishment of a model school as envisioned by the new policy.
The school was named Mevon Tsuglag Peton School by His Holiness The Dalai Lama and was inaugurated by Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche on 10th October 2005. The first batch of 85 children were admitted into Montessori to Grade II classes with boarding facility for out-station children attending class I and II. The school is managed by the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society.
The school follows a curriculum based on the guidelines delineated in the Basic Education Policy. The experience gained from the implementation of programmes under the basic education policy in the school would be used as a model for replication in other Tibetan schools in the future.
