1. The third slideshow I've made about Ewaninga Rock Carvings Conservation Reserve, Old South Road, Central Australia. I've used the same music, a tune I sort of made up (till someone tells me I've subconsciously copied it from someone else) for all three.

There are three stories in this slideshow:

Firstly, the culturally significant Arrernte Aboriginal rock carvings on the knoll beside a shallow ephemeral claypan nestled into the swale of a crescent sanddune. The carvings are open to visitors on a look, photograph by all means, but don't touch, basis. Interpretation of the abstract carvings is restricted to oral transmission to tribal members only. There is an incongruous viewing platform to allow visitors to view some of the carvings without clambering over the rocks. The age of the rock carvings isn't known.

Secondly, is the fleeting sunset light play on iron rich tidal rocks remnant from the tidal shores of a huge inland sea some 500 million years ago.

Thirdly, is the drying up of the very shallow claypan. Slithers of water still reflective and glistening, while the claypan solidifying into oozing red plates making for colourful patterns on the surface.

I hope you enjoy Ewaninga around sunset on Friday 13th as much as I enjoyed being down there for it.

  2. This slideshow turned out a bit corny ... but, heck its kindda too hot for reindeer and snow and eggnogs etc. ... we do, however, have our favourite red sand dune down the Old South Road that the dogs and I frequently frequent. So this is Merry Christmas (or Happy Holiday, if you prefer) wishes from there. Sasha is the would be car chaser looking to fix Rudolf up with a lift into The Alice. Carna provided the vocalisations. I provide the dog food and transportation the 21k or so out of town ... in return, after the dogs are hot and spent and lollying for rest and water, I can put them in the ute and take my time coming home, stopping to admire and try to capture a bit of the usually magnificent sunset/sunset light show around the sand dune and on the road back home. Its a good deal all round, I recon. So here's a tad of what we experience when we go down there. Merry Christmas (or Happy Holiday) to you and hope you have a wonderful New Year, with whatever it is that you desire. Peace, Hope, Love, Freedom. All the best Cheers Jan

  3. It was Carna's third birthday on 18 June. I took him and his mum, Sasha, for an afternoon/evening splash at our beloved Ilparpa Claypans to celebrate. After all, the three of us were involved in his birth, and we were in it together.

After the dogs had had their splash and Sasha her intense ball chase in the main claypan (her very serious business), I put them in the ute and took a few photos in that fleeting intense sunset light without them.

It was a beautiful evening and although the water levels were getting low and the shallow claypans in the process and getting near to drying up, I managed to get a couple of shots of a White-necked Heron that was wading in the mud of a smaller claypan, and a family of Red Kangaroos (Mum with big joey in pouch) amongst the trees as we drove out in the fading light.

This is what Ilparpa Claypans means to us. We love it. Still beautiful with no water ... but heavenly with ... Wruff! Wruff! (Carna and Sasha agree ... yay!)

  4. This is my second slideshow make from photos I took at the Arckaringa Hills (Painted Desert) in July this year (the first one was made on Windows Live Moviemaker, this one was made on PicturesToExe). Amazingly I had the sunrise and the Arckaringa Hills all to myself. It was freezing cold even though it doesn't look it.

Photos and slideshow are by me. Music was provided by freeplaymusic.com. The track is "Weekend Jig" and the artist is Frank Ferrucci. I think it suits the mood of the slideshow very nicely, thank you so much Freeplaymusic.

I really enjoyed making this little slideshow. Still got lots ta learn. Hope you enjoy.

  5. As a result of seeing an ad for 11-11-11 activities to be recorded and uploaded here on Vimeo, I went down to Rainbow Valley to photograph the sunset on that day. It was incredible to have this Central Australian icon with its shadow/light beautiful sunset show all to myself. A fitting way to commemorate 11-11-11. This is the resulting slideshow. I used PicturesToExe and Photoshop to edit the images and to make them into a slideshow. Music was provided by freeplaymusic.com. I'm a newcomer to both PicturesToExe and Photoshop and there were two generous people who helped me get a start off with both. I thank them very much. I hope you enjoy the 11-11-11 sunset at Rainbow Valley as much as I did being there. Cheers

Jan Martin (Cleardrops) Plus

Well, I hope to have more slideshows together when I get my act together and explore Vimeo.

I love the Central Australian bush which this channel will eventually be all about (she says hopefully).
