1. This video explains the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis and how it changes the structure of the carotid artery. These changes can be seen with high resolution ultrasound and can be used to assess risk for heart attack and stroke.
    This is one of a series of lectures presented in Bethesda, Maryland, April 14-16, 2011 as part of a CIMT Training Academy, hosted by the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention, and designed to give the medical provider a firm understanding of what is necessary to perform an accurate and reproducible IMT scan.
