This is a documentary of a Canadian outsider artist, Maureen Robinson, who has for a number of years leased residences that were formerly used by full-time lighthouse keepers in Lake Superior. The video was originally shot in 2001 on Trowbridge Island Lighthouse near Thunder Bay, Ontario. The footage was recently edited and is part of several documentaries "Lake Stories" by Thomas Porett.
Tommy Dyke was a summer resident of Silver Islet, Ontario, who was a well known local character of considerable color. During most summers he acted as an informal tour guide for unsuspecting tourists camping at nearby Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
This is an informal documentary lasting approximately two hours shot in 2000. The file was derived from a DVD.
Tommy Dyke had considerable knowledge of Silver Islet but also conveyed numerous inaccuracies. Tommy's world was moved by rigid "rules" and spirits, a characteristic that made him unique. Tommy passed away several years ago and Silver Islet lost some uniqueness as a result.
This video is part of "Lake Stories" an ongoing project of events and people of Silver Islet, Ontario and Lake Superior.
