Lycée Français de la Nouvelle Orléans students will matriculate into the finest colleges and universities throughout the world. Lycée Français will provide the opportunity for its students to achieve both the French Baccalaureate and the Louisiana high school diploma in an academically challenging and culturally diverse educational environment.
In a rapidly evolving world, the Lycée Français founders believe that it is imperative for children to become multi-lingual. In fact, the global marketplace our students will enter demands it right now. By implementing the comprehensive French national curriculum (recognized worldwide for its excellence 2), and providing the environment for students to develop the ability to think multi-dimensionally, Lycée Français will be the first public Pre-K through 12th grade French School in the United States. At Lycée Français, it is not just the belief that “all children can learn,” it is the core concept that “all children can excel academically and succeed in the expectations and experiences of life itself.”
A musician's instrument is a means of expression, a tool for connecting with others, and an old friend in times of tragedy. Music is a healing energy like no other and we can join together to provide this type of "medicine" to help heal the children who are suffering in Haiti. Haitian born symphony conductor, Dr. Jean Montes, the Director of Orchestral Studies at Loyola University New Orleans, devotes a considerable amount of his time to developing young musicians. He is the Artistic Directors of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras and leads musical programs for youth development in cities all over the world. Every summer he returns home to Haiti to work with children who rely on music as an outlet. Now, more than ever, they need the comfort and emotional outlet that musical expression provides. Most of their instruments and supplies were lost in the recent tragedies in Haiti. Dr. Montes invites you to make a difference in their lives. It is his goal to provide each of these young Haitian musicians with a replacement instrument (check your attics, basements and closets), supplies and music to heal their hearts and give them a sense of hope for the future.
You are invited to donate items listed below or make a monetary contribution toward the purchase of these items. All instruments and supplies will be personally delivered by Dr. Montes to the youth musicians of Haiti.
