  2. Spent a week running around Niger with a translator and driver during the recent elections. Between the chaotic elections and Al Qaeda kidnaping two frenchmen - the trip was great. I really came to appreciate the food, culture and friendly people. It was a bumper millet harvest while I was filming but many people in Niger have suffered from droughts and an inability to find food. Through CARE's Village Savings and Loan program, Mamata Tinou began a cereal bank in her village of Genki. Not only has Mamata created a thriving business, the people of Genki have ample food available at all times. Mamata is now the leader of a regional federation microfinance program and respected in her community for her knowledge and skills. Find out more by visiting http://www.care.org.

  4. Recently was given the opportunity to shoot and produce stories in Ethiopia for CARE.org. Miski Ali lost her husband shortly after having her third child. Through CARE's Productive Safety Net Program, she was able to receive the training she needed to support her family. She is working to change her life for the better by being a part of a savings and loan association in her community.

In 2005, CARE began the Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) to fight food insecurity in Ethiopia's West Hararge zone. The main beneficiaries of this program are 87,000 households that are chronically food insecure. Learn more by visiting http://www.care.org

  5. Recently was given the opportunity to shoot and produce stories in Ethiopia for CARE.org. I was interested in capturing remote "last mile" projects and getting to know beneficiaries. Amina literally lived over the mountains. It took all day driving off road on cow paths to get to her little village. In the end, it was worth it. Amina's strength and resilience is inspiring.
