We had to test our bio sand water filter's water using a kit purchased from the organization we bought our filters from called Connect Africa. We put a few drops of our specimen (aka our filtered water) on a paper version of a Petri dish - a square piece of cardboard with a circle of agar (the pink jelly stuff found in labs). The sample then had to be incubated for 24 hours in a warm place. Well, the warmest place we had in the remote village of Kanungu was the arm pits of our buddies, Gerald and Christoffer. In this video, we reveal the results of our first water test!
Still a work in progress, the construction of our first water well in it's final stage. This video shows water bubbling up from the ground that's funneled by a banana tree. The well will bring more than one water source from the side of this hill into one stream that will fill up a well. The well will have taps installed on the front making access to water more efficient.
