1. I'm currently on a film shoot in Kent, but I have managed to trade a copy of "One Red Paperclip" for...

A hardback copy of David Lynch's Catching the Big Fish...

    Signed by David Lynch himself.

This trade was made with the James Lance in Brighton. I'll add more details when back from the film shoot, but until then, if you have anything good to trade for a signed copy of "Catching the Big Fish" then email me at anotherredpaperclip@gmail.com

  2. Hey guys, I have never blogged before, so please bear with me! This year I graduated in Film Production graduate from AUCB in the UK; and am currently writing this while working (gulp) freelance in the production department on various films. Over Christmas I read a copy of Kyle McDonald’s “One Red Paperclip,” an astonishing tale of a man trading a single red paper clip to eventually end up with a house.

Over the coming year, I will make a weekly trade to try and eventually end up with a house. Each of the trades will be show in a two minute video, with the intention of having a feature length documentary at the end of the year (and hopefully something amazing like an aircraft carrier!)

This is entirely inspired by his book, hence the initial trade to be a copy of your book! I have contacted Kyle and he said:

“I am 100% in favour (of this project) and you have my blessing! Start small, think big.. and have fun!”

So here we are guys at the start of my journey. I have one copy of Kyle McDonald’s “One Red Paperclip,” a lot of ambition and hope, looking forward to the new year and starting Week 1.

For the year 2012, I intend to follow in the monumental footsteps of Kyle McDonald and aim to trade one red paperclip (a copy of his book – not an actual paperclip) with whatever items present themselves to me, to see if I can end up with a house.

In 2005, Kyle McDonald, a Canadian Blogger managed to barter his way from a single red paperclip to a house in a series of online trades over the course of a year. He was inspired by the childhood game “Bigger, Better.”

He initially traded his paperclip for a fish shaped pen, but was soon trading his way up from pen to doorknob to camping stove to generator; until eventually he was trading snowmobiles, recording contracts and afternoons with Alice Cooper.

I intend to do one trade each week with a total of 52 trades. Every week I will create a two-minute video of the week’s trade. The way I will find the trade can be through any method. I have a few celebrity contacts who will hopefully start me off with some initial good trades; I intend to walk around the streets on London approaching people at random to see if they will trade with me; and this February I have my high school reunion. For the rest of the year…I still have to figure it out.

By the end of the year, there will be enough videos to put together a feature length documentary, from the very start of the project, until its eventual conclusion, whatever that might be.

This is entirely inspired by his book, hence the initial trade to be a copy of your book! I have contacted Kyle and he said:
