We began 2012 with a visit from the winner of the Hank Stewart Chocolate Affair. Denise Thomas of Design-A-Party Catering and Event planners came to tell us what she prepared for the judges and how it pulled in a winning vote for the best chocolate dessert at the affair.
UniverSoul Circus and the Atlanta Public Schools teamed up to support Hosea Feed the Hungry. Ben Johnson and Felicia Echols stopped by to discuss the importance of teaching kids to give back.
The Ad Council and American Red Cross emphasize the importance of giving blood. Donating blood and platelets can save upto three lives.
We closed out the show with an interview with author Doris Bibbs. Her book "Breaking the Glass Cage" looks to introduce issues of mental health to society to encourage people to learn more and seek help.
Dr. Catherine Palmier stopped by to discuss the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance. We were introduced to a new way to support the Children's Museum of Atlanta. William David Salon gave some great tips about updating your look for the holidays while sharing stories of how important it is to support your local community. Dr. Maggie Fox was back with new tips about avoiding the cold and flu while traveling.
Cornelia King dropped by to tell us about service learning initiatives around the Metro Atlanta. She brought with her two students who have expanded their learning through volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and engaging in athletics. Chef Ken Celmer, introduced us to; The Best Teen Chef Competition at the Art Institute of Atlanta. Local teen artist Ivan Kelley debuted his new video for the single Scream and gave us tidbits about shooting hit movie, Joyful Noise. Patricia Babuka and Reuben Black help to strengthen the bond of family with Grand Camp Adventures.
