MOTHER and REVOLUTIONARY continued to be performed after Duncan's death by her protegees including Anna and Irma Duncan. Julia Levien (student of Anna and Irma) was able to preserve this choreography and provide coaching and direction to subsequent generations of dancers interested in performing this work. CROSSING was reconstructed by Julia Levien in 1990 to complete the trilogy as we know it today. One of Duncan’s last works, REVOLUTIONARY, is a fiery precursor to the modern dance of the 1920’s and 30’s emphasizing strength, gravity and political upheaval.
