A journey through Vilnius, Lithuania, in winter. Below is a description of the places that has been filmed.
Uzupis is a neighbourhood in Vilnius, known for its bohemic and never-mind atmosphere. On April 1, 1997, the district declared itself an independent republic (The Republic of Užupis). It is unclear whether the statehood of the Republic, recognized by no government, is intended to be serious, tongue-in-cheek, or a combination of both. Their constitution is found on large plaques in 15 languages, and includes laws like "A cat is not obliged to love its owner, but must help out in times of need."
Rasos Cemetery is the oldest and most famous cemetery in Vilnius. In 1801 John Muller, the mayor of Vilnius, became the first person to be buried there. The cemetery is free of charge to all residents of the city.
Trakai Island Castle is located on an island in Lake Galvė. The construction of the stone castle was begun in the 14th century by Kęstutis, and around 1409 major works were completed by his son Vytautas the Great, who died in this castle in 1430.
Park of Europe was founded in 1991, and is located near the geographical centre of Europe, right outside of Vilnius. Here, nature and art merges, and about 100 sculptures created by different artists of the world are displayed there. Most well known is perhaps the largest sculpture made of TV sets created by Gintaras Karosas. One can also find a piece of the Berlin Wall in this forest.
The Old Town of Vilnius is one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Central Europe. In 1994 the Vilnius Old Town was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List (No. 541) in recognition of its universal value and originality.
New York Morning captures what the greatest city in the world feels like, as it's beginning its day. It's a little something to all New Yorkers working hard, doing their thing.
