How big is the Church? Who belongs? Who should be allowed? Where do we draw the line? It’s easy to draw lines where God hasn’t. It’s easy to wonder if we ourselves belong in his Church. It’s easy to wonder if that drug dealer or that terrorist should be welcomed into the Church. But Jesus reminds us what it’s really like in the Church: There is mercy in the Church for all: for us and all who trust in Christ.

In Lent we remember when Jesus was tempted in the desert, and our own daily struggles with temptation. Joseph and his temptation by Potiphar's wife provides a good example to us as believers for fighting the good fight against temptation.
Sermon for February 19, 2012 - Transfiguration Sunday based upon Mark 9:2-9 by Pastor David Boettcher. Jesus was glorified on the Mount of Transfiguration--his face and clothes for a brief moment shone in his full glory. We live in a world where glory is like that--fleeting and brief. Like Jesus went down the mountain to face the valley of the shadow of death, we live our lives under that shadow.
