Filmed on location in Outback Queensland, '1848' is a short film that charts the final days of Ludwig Leichhardt's fateful third expedition. It was produced as part of Griffith Film School's 2011 Graduation Slate.
Australia, 1848. Blinded by the fear of failure, explorer Ludwig Leichhardt forges on in his quest to be the first European to traverse the breadth of Australia’s ominous interior.
As well as showcasing in film festivals and competitions, this film has also screened across the world as part of lectures, presentations and events concerning Leichhardt.
