Kinetic Installation "Daydream", 2009, Toronto. Board of Directors gallery.
This installation is comprised of a machine I built and mounted inside of a plaster wall that I constructed. At first glance, "Daydream" appears to be simply a white window frame mounted onto a wall with black lines traced onto the wall, resembling panes of glass. As the viewer approaches, however, the black lines are revealed to be actual grooves in the wall, made by moving chains that are slowly eroding the plaster away. This machine is slowly breaking the wall down, and it is attempting to carve a window out of this wall.

Video documentation of "Telescope", Toronto, 2009, Katharine Mulherin and Erin Stump Board of Directors Gallery
I constructed a temporary white wall to house a 4ft long index card drawer that I custom built to telescope completely into a gallery wall. Inside, I created an environment, a miniature space, that, as the viewer pulls the drawer handle, reveals itself bit by bit. This video was created by putting a camera inside the drawer while someone pulled it out to its full extension, and then back inside the wall. Video done by artist Stan Krzyzanowksi.
