  2. The Shred Sled is a fish design tweaked to be an all-round surfing board. It has a smooth connected feeling that is fast and flowing. Although it looks like a small wave board, the Shred Sled will surf waves up to 6ft in all conditions.

The unique outline allows a full plan shape, yet a wide round tail is positioned behind the wing to give plenty of performance and curve to fit into all types of waves. The wing allows a straighter outline in the center of the board, which provides plenty of speed down the line. The foil has plenty of volume, yet it is shaped to allow the board to sit in the wave face creating a very smooth, connected feeling. The wing breaks this connection and water flow to give response and release when you want it.

The rocker is flat in the belly, giving the board flowing speed, yet it kicks late in the nose and a little in the tail. The deep single concave in the front end of the board blends into a double vee out the tail behind the front fins.

Designed to be ridden 4-5 inches shorter and ¾ to 1 inch wider than your performance short board.

  3. The Shred Sled Grom is a fish design tweaked to be an all-round surfing board for young surfers. It has been scaled down from the Shred Sled and designed for young surfers who are progressing or young little rippers who want a performance fun design - they just order it a few inches shorter than their normal board.

The unique outline allows a full plan shape, yet a wide round tail is positioned behind the wing to give plenty of performance and curve to fit into all types of waves. 4. The Psychedelic Germ was designed when Warren Smith said to me he wanted a signature board model that was different and unique. So I took the Shred Sled model and added a displacement hull concept that I had been working with Tom Carroll and Andy Dovell on in a tow board project. I also put in some side cuts (concave outlines) inspired by the “Winterstick Swallowtail”, which are situated from the wide point of the board down to the wing.

The displacement hull softens the water flow through the entry of the board when planing through choppy water, or through the lip of a wave. The side cuts shorten the radius of your turn, meaning the board will draw a tighter arc for how wide the board actually is - resulting in the board feeling more responsive when on rail.

The rocker is flat in the belly, giving the board flowing speed, yet it kicks late in the nose and a little in the tail. The deep single concave in the front end of the board blends into a double vee out the tail behind the front fins.

The Psychedelic Germ is a board that can riden in all conditions up to 4ft. It is fast, responsive and easy to ride.

  5. The Blakcat is the Haydenshapes performance shortboard - designed for all-round conditions. It will give you a good balance of speed, turn and release and can be ridden in waves from 2-6ft.
The Blakcat has a medium rocker overall, with an extended flat section between the stance to give the board good speed and drive.

The outline is a balanced outline with the wide point just back from center, and it is generally shaped with a squash tail to give a nice smooth and loose feel off the back foot.

A medium single concave runs throughout the bottom of the board, providing plenty of lift and speed to free the board up on the wave face. Having the single concave throughout the board gives you a broad sweet spot that is easy to find regardless of your stance.

The foil of the board has been designed to create a very responsive feel while maintaining as much forgiveness as possible for a performance shortboard.

The 2012 stock dimensions are about 1-2 inches shorter and 1/2 inch wider than ever before, giving the board more stability and versatility in everyday waves.
