1. scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012.

We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival.

The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience.

The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..!

A big thank you to the Japanese Government for running such a successful program such as JENESYS over the last 5 years. I will always remember my time in Japan.

    I edited to these tracks:
    - This Will Destroy You - The Mighty Rio Grande
    - Helios - Bless This Morning Year
    - Helios - Vargtimme
    - Memoryhouse - Lately

I edited with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Magic Bullet Looks.

  3. ABOUT A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF LONDON:

When I first moved to London a few years ago the first period of my relationship with the city wasn’t that great, I couldn’t find a connection, I felt like a stranger and I couldn’t feel any inspiration at all. But then, all of a sudden, one night I was walking on the South Bank when a glorious sunset caught my attention and I experienced that beautiful sensation of feeling like home. And at that point, it was.
It has been exactly like when you meet someone and at first you don’t like him/her, but then you hang out for a while and, before you can realise, you’re in love! So the main idea behind this timelapse movie was simply to write a sort of visual love letter to the city that stole my heart and that gives me a lot of inspiration every single day.

    The technical stuff:

Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II w/ TC-80N3 timer

    Lenses:

    - Canon EF 24/105 f/4L IS USM
    - Zeiss Jena Flektogon MC 2.8/20 M42

    - Zeiss Jena Sonnar MC 2.8/180 M42
