NIKE 6.0– The story of MONYCA BYRNE WICKEY
Huntington Beach, California
This project was part of a much bigger scope spanning across multiple countries capturing up and coming Nike women athletes who are making headlines in their sport of choice.
This film was about Monyca Byrne Wickey, a self taught, very disciplined amateur surfer who's philosophy on success can be summed up in one phrase: "Shortcuts are not going to get you there".
This film was a tremendous pleasure to be a part of, but not without it’s challenges. Nike wanted a standalone film to be shot in two days with multiple locations each day while shot tandem with a print campaign.
Manamediagroup employed our Santa Monica office where we shot Monyca at world renown - Huntington Beach.
Monyca is a charming young woman and her story is nothing less than inspirational.
We shot with two Canon 5D MarkII’s. One, equipped with a long, sexy telephoto and the other with a fat, wide angle. We had an extremely tight workflow, as the schedule was rigorous and filled to the brim with brand objectives.
The result was a surprising success.
Monyca's story enlivens the viewer and reflects the brand objective of Nike Women. We hope she continues to excel and rock the surf circuit, so we can spend more days cruising beaches, capturing beautiful images, and enjoying as many fish tacos as we can.
