Scratch is a graphical programming environment that makes it easier for kids (ages 8 and up) to create their own interactive stories, games, animations, and simulations -- and share their creations with one another online.

To create programs in Scratch, kids snap together graphical programming blocks, much like LEGO bricks or puzzle pieces. As kids create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational concepts, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, with financial support from the National Science Foundation, Microsoft, Intel Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Google, Iomega and MIT Media Lab research consortia.
