  2. This is Chapter Seven of a twelve part series; a virtual tour of the Gaza Strip from the Erez border crossing in the North to the Rafah crossing in the South.

The phrase "Inshallah" is heard daily. It's literal translation being "If Allah so wills it." In practice it is used by a population that feels their fate is not completely in their own hands.

This work-in-progress (formerly called If William Can't Come to the Mountain) is being posted to solicit feedback and comment.

The series is being created to bring you the viewer to the Gaza Strip to better understand conditions on the ground. It is a picture that, like any community, is varied and complex.

That said, Gaza is the only area on earth completely under a military and political siege by a hostile neighbor.

Every aspect of daily life in Gaza is controlled by externals forces; where and how residents of Gaza can travel, what they are allowed to purchase in their stores, where and when they can build, how much international aid is allowed to enter, what goods and services can be exported. Virtually every aspect of the human condition.

It is under this reality that the Gaza Strip struggles with its political and economic future.

These twelve chapters are being posted for review and comment. All feedback is welcomed and much appreciated.

    Thank you for watching.....

  5. This is the fifth chapter in the series.

Here we visit the town of Rafah on the border with Egypt. We visit the mayor of the municipality, Essia El Najar and talk with workers in the tunnels. Today the tunnels bring in virtually all the goods on the shelves of Gaza, although they are under constant danger of closure.

Inshallah, if Allah so wills it. This Arabic phrase heard throughout the Middle East has a special meaning for the people of Gaza. When used in the territory it is laced with irony as no one knows what their future holds.

This feature length documentary and online interactive application is a product of ten months of production in Gaza. It's a reflection of life as experienced by men, women and children living through a very troubled time surrounded, as they are, by a political, economical, military and psychological siege.

The project has recently completed a preview tour through Europe and the Western United States. Reception to the project has been positive and the feedback and comment from the two dozen audiences has provided valuable critique for the film's production team in its effort to portray an accurate and memorable chronicle of life today of the people in the territory.

The documentary is now entering its final stage of production in preparation for special premiere screenings in Washington, DC, New York City and San Francisco, scheduled for fall 2012. Over the next three months, the production will return to Gaza and the West Bank for a concentrated round of taping and editing to refine the content and enhance the production values for the widest possible distribution opportunities. To complement the documentary a fully interactive application is being developed for the web, iPad, iPhone and all wireless devices.

For updates to the Inshallah project please visit inshallahmedia.com.

We will be initiating a fundraising campaign within the month of April to raise funds for the national distribution of the documentary and launch of the web site. An integral part of our distribution strategy is to bring Ayman Mghamis, founder of RR The Palestinian Rapperz and his crew, from Gaza to the U.S. to tour college campuses and music clubs. The tour will include performances, videos of daily life in Gaza and face to face discussions.
We sincerely hope you will follow our efforts online and help move our project forward.
