In this short documentary, I tried to answer some of the common questions that I usually get about shipping. The footage I took myself using fairly basic cameras that I could fit in my pocket while I was on the job as a deckhand. The story follows me on my six month journey around the world on a container ship which was on a run between New York and Singapore via the Suez Canal. Thanks for watching.
-Special thanks to Jesse Chandler with Third Street Works, and Kai Hsing for their help

1000 shipping containers converted into housing for students, stacked five high, ordered in different blocks. Each with its own kitchen and bathroom with about 30m2 of space. Also housed in containers are a supermarket, a bike repair shop, a laundrette and a basketball court, placed between the Hells Angels and a prison. All this is housed on the H.J.E. Wenckebachweg in Amsterdam.
Installation that we produced at Dpt. in collaboration with Baillat Cardell & fils for Ubisoft Montreal as part of C2-MTL.
The above video shows various scenes with the perspective controlled via the Kinect. The interactive 3D scenes give the impression to be a continuation of the room the user is in. This is done by using the technique of off-axis projection in realtime that simulates reality based on a constant viewing angle.
Built with openFrameworks and the Kinect SDK for Windows.
