(Unofficial Video) This is a video I created for a media production techniques class at UNC Asheville in February of 2009. I shot this in HD using a Smith Victor light kit. The idea for the video was to explore kinetic art through film. This is a surfactant experiment with milk, dish soap, oil, water, and food coloring. The symmetrical shots are created using Final Cut Pro's kaleidoscope effect. All asymmetrical shots are part of the actual experiment, sped up and/or reversed in time.
I had a lot of fun shooting this and there is a lot of room for more experimentation.
The animation effect is achieved by stacking photos. The photos are not manipulated in any way. Each photo was taken individually with a 30 second shutter. I used a flashlight and drew in the air to get the lightdrawing effect. I don't show up in the shots because I stay moving. The actresses show up because they held each pose for the full 30 seconds required for each shot. I'm pretty happy with it, but would love feedback and suggestions. The music was produced original by Modern Beat (modernbeatproductions.com) Recording Studio, with many thanks to David Jensen.
Infinity and Chaaa boarding around the WNC mountains. A few clips of Snow Shoe and the pass over Grand Tetons, but mostly Cataloochee over in Maggie Valley. Most of the footage is from one night stuck on I40 in a big pileup (including the campfire) and the following day when we finally got to ride the best snow of the 08-09 season. Music by Apex Theory and all rights to the audio solely reserved to them.
