James Carlson, the co-founder of Bucketworks, Milwaukee (http://www.bucketworks.org), and director of the School Factory (http://www.schoolfactory.org) joined the design hack for the start-up of The CivicLab in Chicago (http://www.civiclab.us). James gave us an overview of the maker space movement and the awesome things that are happening at the Bucketworks, which was started in 2002 and is now in its third home - over 30,000 sq. ft in Milwaukee. The CivicLab will be a store front space where educators and activists will meet and collaborate to build useful tools for civic engagement and community improvement.
