1001 Fountains aims at giving access to purified water to villagers in Cambodia. They developed an hybrid model, which relies on funding to buy the water treatment units.

Once the unit is bought, 1001 Fountains, through its Cambodian sister company Teuk Saat, finds entrepreneurs in villages who are willing to operate the station. Then Teuk Saat builds the station and trains the entrepreneur to operate the station.

The water is then sold by the entrepreneur at the price of 0,1$ per liter so that even the poorest Cambodians can buy it. Once the station is running , the entrepreneur is operating the station as a franchise: if the station is doing well and he is selling a lot of water he keeps the benefits while paying Teuk Saat a monthly fee that helps the company pay its employees and develop its activities, as a classical entreprise would do.

Thanks to that hybrid model, 1001 Funtains is able to provide access to pure water in about 50 villages in Cambodia, while ensuring the sustainability of its action.
