Cowboy Scott Dunn was down on his luck in Star, N.C when Jim and Mary Callicutt found him in Sherry's Restaurant, a diner known for its southern home cooking. Jim's invitation to Sunday church led to a strong friendship between the two. With nowhere else to go, Scott was invited into the Callicutt's home, where he lived for a month while he searched for work and prepared for his Baptism.
Scott grew up on a ranch in Texas. His parents were not around, and he was raised mostly by his step-sister. As an adult, he spent most of his life moving around, from ranch to ranch, in search of work training horses. "People think the cowboy days are over, but they're not," Scott said. Scott is happy when he is working with horses, and says he relates to them more than he does most human beings.
Coal queen pageant contestant Arianna Bailey competes for a crown to represent her family’s way of life. Former miner Goose Stewart lives with the memories of a mine explosion. One thing binds both families: coal.
