Doris Ayala returns home to visit her father, 16 years after fleeing El Salvador, where she is confronted by the man who sexually abused her when she was a child. Doris confronts the violence and abuse of her early years, that she had buried deep in her mind with horrific nightmares.
Doris courageously and candidly deals on camera with the horror and burden she has secretly borne for nearly 30 years.
Over the next two weeks, Doris describes the sleepless nights and her nightmares; her feelings of anger and hatred towards the man who stole her childhood; eventually she completely forgives him; freeing herself, “now I am not afraid of anything, and that is true freedom. And I know that whatever happens in the future I will be alright and I can make my own destiny.”
