This film started as a class assignment in the MFA film program at Columbia University with film professor Tom Kalin who instructed us to adapt a short play to the screen. I adapted my one-act play "Escaping Juarez," which was a commission for St. Paul, Minnesota's Teatro del Pueblo Political Theatre Festival. The commission was to create a one-act political play with 3 characters.

The play has been produced at El Museo del Barrio Teatro Heckscher NYC by New Heritage Theatre Group, Columbia University Black Box Theatre by Latino Heritage Month, the University of Texas El Paso Wise Family Theatre, Intermedia Arts Teatro del Pueblo Political Theatre Festival Minneapolis, and a reading was hosted by Brown University Semana Chicana with support from Professor Patty Ybarra.
