Jesus Castañón is the owner of Hain’s Pipe and Cigar Shop in York and Trans Heritage Tobacco Co., which imports his brand, J. Castañón Cigars, from a facility he owns in the Dominican Republic. Bob Schopfer, president and CEO of RLS Construction Group, started his company with himself and one part-time bookkeeper in 2010. Today, there are 30 employees, and the company did just short of $18 million in 2013. What has made RLS so strong? Schopfer said it is his employees.
Chris Haring invested about $5 million to build the Yellow Breeches Sports Center in Fairview Township. The indoor sports center, which also is available for trade shows, meetings and other events, operates in an 88,000-square-foot warehouse structure. Haring moved the business from Lemoyne to expand his field space and center offerings. It was formerly known as the Susquehanna Sports Center.
Ryan Myers, a commercial sales and leasing agent in LMS Commercial Real Estate’s York County office, sat down last week with staff reporter Jason Scott to talk about the current real estate market. Investment properties remain in high demand, while land development deals have been a little slow, Myers said. The redevelopment of the West Manchester Mall adds value in the local retail market. Expect steady market growth, Myers said.
